Murder Most Haunted

In "Murder Most Haunted", Emma Mason has accomplished the difficult task of making a murder mystery set in a haunted house laugh out loud funny at times, adding to the achievement of this being her debut novel.

On the night of her retirement from the police, Midge McGowan is gifted a 2 night stay on a haunted house excursion, with the company founded by an ex colleague.

After arriving at the haunted house, originally the family home of tin miners, the Athertons, Midge and her assorted cast of other tour goers find that the veil between the spirit world and reality is thinner than anyone could have guessed.

Once I had started "Murder Most Haunted", I found it really hard to put down. Midge is a very unlikely main character in a mystery story, and I loved her all the more for it.

Our motley crew of characters in the creepy bus driver, sceptic doctor and his susceptible wife, the washed up pop star and paranormal podcaster were well written and varied, with their motivations all believable and, whilst sometimes outlandish due to the stress of the situation, the dialogue between them was realistic.

Will be waiting with baited breath for more work from Emma Mason in the future.
