The day after a small village tradition of throwing a straw effigy of a woman from a tall cliff into the forest below, Jodie comes across the rotting corpse of a young woman.
What follows is a tense celebration of Small Britain, with all of it's eccentricities on full show, as we discover that the village and the people that reside there may not be as she once knew, all wrapped up in a body horror - murder mystery tale.
Shockingly tense, ITCH! is a beautifully told story of love, loss, grief, and highlights the fact that we are able to choose our family. The characters are well actualised, with believable motives, and the hamlet of Ellwood is described in a vivid, almost cinematic way at times, that really helps to ignite the imagination.
I'd recommend this to all fans of Lucy Rose's `The Lamb`, Eric LaRocca's `We Are Always Tender With Our Dead`, as well as fans of the Ari Aster movie `Midsommar`.
